dataset # Design Companies in Portugal (detailed view, 2018, SABI)

Database created from SABI (Moody’s company: private database with economic and financial information about 800.000 Portuguese companies). It was used as the working subject in the discipline of Representation and Knowledge, with Design master students (University of Aveiro, year 2019-20). Companies with the code 74.10 (Design activity) in 2018 was extracted, obtaining an initial sample of 1.451 companies. The database contained information on their location (county, district and NUT II area), Turnover, Exports (%), Number of Employees, Profit (%) and contact forms (email and website, if any). Students only considered companies that had a positive Turnover that year (n=1.287) to create the infographics. In addition to the existing data, they added other parameters, such as their location (coast area, inland, south or islands), their size (following European guidelines), and a qualitative classification according to the company’s investment in employees in relation to its Turnover. dataset # Design Companies and Design graduates in Portugal – diachronic view 2010-2019 by NUT II

Database crosses information on the total number of graduates in Design in Portugal (see “Graduates in Design courses in Portugal, 2002-2020”), with information on Design companies in Portugal extracted from the reports of “Culture Statistics” produced in the last decade. The dataset contains information on all companies with code 74.10 (Design activity), turnover, employees and staff costs, by NUT II (North, Centre, Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Alentejo, Algarve, Autonomous Region of Madeira and Autonomous Region of the Azores). dataset ⌗ Bibliography of the Design doctorates undertaken in Portugal

The references found in at least two different PhD Theses were extracted from the database “Design Doctorates undertaken in Portugal (2001-2020)”. This list of approximately 19,000 lines contains information about the author(s) and co-author(s), year and typology of the reference (e.g. article, book, chapter). It also identifies Portuguese (co)authors. The database allows, for example, to explore which authors and which works are most referenced, by doctoral year and by area of specialisation within design. dataset ⌗ Design Doctorates undertaken in Portugal 2001-2019

Database aggregates information on doctoral PhDs undertaken in Portugal, from 2001 to 2019. Data was collected based on the information available in the National Register of Doctoral Thesis Themes (RENATES) in Design courses, area(s) of Arts and Communication Sciences. There are a total of 249 PhD Theses, with information on the author’s name, school, work title, (co)advisor(s), keywords, funding sources (when mentioned), thesis repository URL (if any ) and the design area addressed (subjective qualification). dataset ⌗ Graduates in Design courses in Portugal (2002-2020)

Database contains information about graduates in Design courses in Portugal (2002-2020). The data is collect from the General Directorate of Statistics for Education and Science (DGEEC). The file contains detailed information about schools, their geographic location (by district and NUT II), the courses, their disciplinary area and number of graduates (Male/Female), per year.
